Rare Antique Desk Pen Pencil Holder Paperweight in the Figural Shape of a French Bulldog or Boston Terrier Puppy Dog, made from a heavy metal, maybe spelter pewter, with a Beautiful Foundry Finish. Dates to the cast iron metals heyday era lasting from 1880's into the early 1940's. Many victorian and turn of the century cast iron and metal figural items are rare or completely lost because of wartime efforts that took place for nearly half of the last century. During the Great War, World War I and beyond, there were constant neighborhood drives to collect all nonessential cast iron and metal goods. These items were then melted down for their materials to help with the manufacturing for our wars necessities and armament. Measures 2.5" tall It is in lovely antique mildly worn condition. Foundry is: Unknown, and Item or like item is in Collector's Guides (1994 book value is listed as $50-100). Fresh out of an estate and offered for the first time! A great gift for a dog lover or even a vintage/antique knick knack lover. I have not cleaned this item aside from a light dust off. Light soiling, dust, old age toning, rust, dents, nicks and scratches could be present along with other minor wear consistent with age.
